Ferrari want to introduce their ADUO-linked engine and fuel upgrade for Hamilton and Leclerc, but Red Bull’s FIA appeal could complicate everything. That creates a huge question before Austria: can Ferrari unleash the upgrade, or will Red Bull slow the whole plan down? FERRARI TURBO PLAN This is bigger than one weekend. Ferrari are also plotting a second ADUO-influenced power unit update after the summer break, with a new turbocharger expected around Zandvoort or Monza. If Austria is step one, the turbo update could be step two in Ferrari’s attempt to close the gap and turn Hamilton and Leclerc into a bigger threat. HAMILTON AND SANTI Ferrari have confirmed Carlo Santi will remain as Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer. That matters because Hamilton’s Ferrari breakthrough has changed the mood around Maranello. If Santi has helped unlock Hamilton’s confidence, keeping that partnership stable could be as important as the upgrade itself. MCLAREN COPY THE WING McLaren are bringing their own upside-down rear wing to Austria after Ferrari and Red Bull’s designs attracted attention earlier this season. That tells us the development war is moving fast. Austria could show who has understood the 2026 aero rules best. CADILLAC UPGRADE PUSH Cadillac are also bringing a substantial upgrade package to Austria. Perez and Bottas need this package to move Cadillac out of the backmarker fight and closer to a first points finish. RED BULL EXIT RUMOUR Ralf Schumacher has heard that another Red Bull chief may be on the way out. If true, that adds to the instability around Red Bull while Max Verstappen’s future, technical direction and leadership structure are already under pressure.
