The team has confirmed that severe vibrations in their new Formula 1 car could pose a serious health risk to drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll if they attempt to run full race distances in Melbourne. Reports suggest the vibrations coming from the Honda power unit are so severe that both drivers could suffer permanent nerve damage in their hands if they drive too long during the race. According to the latest information from the paddock, Alonso believes he may only be able to drive around 25 consecutive laps before risking serious damage, while Stroll may be limited to around 15 laps due to the extreme vibrations transmitted through the chassis. That means Aston Martin may need to restrict running or even retire the cars early during the Australian Grand Prix if the issue cannot be solved in time. The problem appears to originate from the interaction between the new 2026 hybrid power unit systems and the chassis, with vibrations damaging components and physically affecting the drivers. The team is now scrambling to find a fix before race weekend while continuing to gather crucial data. This is a major blow for Aston Martin after huge investment in the team, including the high profile arrival of legendary designer Adrian Newey, who joined the project to lead the team into the new era of Formula 1 regulations.
