The team will use a permitted filming day at Madrid’s new F1 circuit before the Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton and Leclerc are scheduled to drive the SF-26, giving Ferrari early knowledge of the track surface, grip, banking and energy demands before Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull arrive. WOLFF FIA QUESTIONS Toto Wolff has already questioned Ferrari’s spending and development rate. Now Ferrari have found a way to gather real track data within the regulations. The run is limited to 200km and uses filming-day tyres, but Ferrari will still learn more than their rivals. It is legal — but Mercedes may feel Ferrari have outmanoeuvred them again. VERSTAPPEN HORNER TALKS Max Verstappen has revealed he still speaks with Christian Horner almost every week. Horner left Red Bull after the 2025 British GP, but the relationship remains strong. With Verstappen’s future uncertain and Horner linked with an F1 comeback, those conversations will fuel more paddock speculation. MAX’S RED BULL ANGER Unbroadcast radio from Silverstone showed how frustrated Verstappen was with Red Bull. He complained about deployment, understeer, downshifts, battery problems and the team ignoring his request for an engine change. His final message after crashing showed how far his confidence in the car has fallen. ALPINE INVESTOR ROW Renault’s CEO has criticised Alpine’s celebrity-backed minority investor partnership, saying it brought no operational value. Renault still controls the team and can block any sale of the 24% stake. With Horner previously linked to that shareholding, Alpine’s ownership story remains one to watch. V8 ENGINE PLAN We also revisit F1’s plan for an independent V8 engine supplier from 2031. The proposal could reduce manufacturer control, lower costs and create lighter cars, but nothing is approved. This is F1 news, Ferrari Madrid testing, Toto Wolff FIA reaction, Hamilton and Leclerc advantage, Max Verstappen Red Bull frustration, Christian Horner talks, Alpine ownership politics and Formula 1 V8 engine plans.
